Apple is trying to do more with its artificial intelligence (AI). It is taking strategic steps towards enhancing it and lately has acquired Canada-based AI company Darwin AI for the purpose. The acquisition aims to utilize the technology of Darwin AI for inspecting components during the manufacturing process. This will ensure a more efficient production process.
The acquisition is learned to be also bringing aboard several employees from Darwin AI. DarwinAI’s researcher Alexander Wong has assumed the role of director within the Apple’s AI division.
With the acquisition and strategic planning, the iDevice giant is gearing up to introduce its own generative AI system in the upcoming iOS 18 and macOS 15 operating systems. The system is said could be offering human-like responses and simultaneously enhance user experience across Apple devices.
The report revealed further Apple’s plans to integrate AI features such as auto-summarizing and auto-complete into core apps and productivity software such as the Pages and Keynote. It is also rumored the AI integration into services like Apple Music to focus on automating playlist creation and enhancing user engagement.
In addition to consumer-facing applications, Apple is simultaneously focusing on AI-driven improvements for customer support. The report highlighted that Apple’s development of a new AI-based system to assist AppleCare employees in troubleshooting customer issues effectively.
Furthermore, it is speculated that Apple is venturing into AI chatbots and to come up with ChatGPT-like service. It probably would be named Apple GPT. This service facilitates feature testing, text summarization and answering queries based on stored data.
Meanwhile, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook highlighted their commitment to harnessing the transformative potential of generative AI during the company’s recent annual shareholder meeting. He emphasized their significant investments in this area as well as foreseeing groundbreaking opportunities for users in productivity enhancement.
