Yallas Technologies Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has emerged as a promising startup in Visakhapatnam and it is successfully led by entrepreneur Y Bhagya Lakshmi. It is learned the startup is set to transform lighting solutions with their latest invention called Roshini, which has been developed locally.
Roshini is the first saline water-based illumination in India. It utilizes seawater as an electrolyte and thereafter powers LED lamps through specially designed electrodes.
The idea to come up with a pioneering technology in the form of Roshini originated at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, under the leadership of Dr. Purnima Jalihal from the energy and fresh water group.
Roshni is patented and follows protection procedures. Currently, the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) is overseeing its commercialization efforts.
Dr. BK Sahu, who heads the NRDC-Visakhapatnam, has praised the Roshini for its affordability and portability as well. It operates on seawater or a simple saline solution mixed with tap water. It embodies sustainable and accessible technology.
Dr. Bhavya Manjeera, assistant manager at NRDC-Vizag, has been instrumental in driving Roshini’s commercialization forward.
NRDC CMD Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retd) and Y Bhagya Lakshmi showcased Roshini to esteemed dignitaries at the international symposium. The dignitaries included Kathi Vidal, the United States Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, and USPTO Director; John Cabeca, the United States IP Counselor to South Asia; and Mr. Christopher W.
