Infosys is embracing generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) and helping clients in cutting costs as well as improve efficiency. It is simultaneously also embracing AI to enhance its own productivity. It is a significant shift for the company and to understand the way businesses are currently approaching technology.
Infosys is developing more than 100 new Gen AI agents tailored for its clients to meet the increasing demand. Many of the agents are already being used and helping businesses in streamlining operations as well as deliver better customer experiences.
Infosys CEO Salil Parekh shed light on the trend during the recent post-earnings call of the company. He mentioned that discussions around generative AI feature prominently in their engagements with clients across various industries. Clients are also showing interest in small language models that Infosys has developed.
Gen AI reduces costs, improves efficiency and processes faster. The technology is also benefiting Infosys as AI internally improves productivity.
The strong third-quarter performance of Infosys adds weight to the narrative. The company secured deals worth $2.5 billion and edged out slightly the previous quarter’s $2.4 billion. It is learned that 63% of the deals are new and it highlights strong client demand across multiple areas such as cloud, SAP S4HANA and Gen AI.
However, it is worth noting that while Gen AI is a major focus, but it is not the only factor driving growth.
Infosys is setting an example of how companies can integrate AI to drive both and also internal success. Companies that can navigate these hurdles, like Infosys, are likely to lead the charge. For others, the journey may not be as straightforward.
Only time will tell if Gen AI becomes a standard business tool or remains a competitive edge for the few who can afford it.
