The world is not free of scams in this digital world. Frequently new scams hit headlines and one such is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to clone voices. X platform user Kaveri recently shared her bitter experience with this high-tech deception.<\/p>\n
Kaveri recounted how she received a call from an unfamiliar number and she initially was hesitant to answer it. But curiosity got the better of her and she received the call. On the other side was a disguised police officer and she was informing that her daughter was in trouble.<\/p>\n
The fake cop said that her daughter is involved in a serious situation. The call replicated her daughter\u2019s voice and name but with uncanny accuracy. She understood that it was a scam call and especially when the caller demanded money in exchange for her daughter\u2019s freedom.<\/p>\n
While talking to the scammer, Kaveri activated the call recording feature on her smartphone and requested to speak to her daughter. However, the fake cop refused to her request and she remained adamant not to give money. She even laughed off at the threats of the caller.<\/p>\n
Kaveri\u2019s post on X platform gained attention and several more victims shared similar experiences. One user recalled a similar incident stating that a friend had received a call that falsely claiming their loved one was arrested. Another user with similar experience wrote that a scammer knew personal details.<\/p>\n
To remain safe from such scams many social media users have started removing personal information from the internet. Users are expressing concern over the invasion of privacy.<\/p>\n
